Happy Democracy Day?

To a country where there's no freedom of speech?

To a country​ where there's no freedom of association?

To a country where you don't have a right to privacy?

To a country where the law enforcement agents and also agents of corruption?

To a country that favours a particular set of people over the populace?

To a country where votes never count?

To a country where it's President holds it to Ransom?

To a country that watches while her people suffers?

To a country where the budget of the year has not been implemented by mid-year?

To a country where you speak against the regime and you get witch-hunted immediately?

To a country where you are not free to love whoever you want to love?

To a country eaten so deep by religion and tribal sentiment that choke the hell out of democracy?

I still wonder what democracy is being celebrated today.

Yet, we still suffer and smile. We still survive.
